Some photos taken by Huw below from our recording session in October at our practise space in the Hotspur Press building. The fruits of this labour will appear on a CD/download album due for release early next year on Manchester’s very own Concrete Moniker label. You can hear a few excerpts on our special placeContinue reading “LBO aktion”
Violin Developments
Winter is taking its toll on the violin the communal gardens in Woodlawn Court that I put out to seed in the summer… its now down to just the front piece of the body after mysteriously disappearing for a few weeks. The piece is becoming slowly more sculptural and less resembling an instrument. Im fascinatedContinue reading “Violin Developments”
Zizek rocks
Started reading his book on ‘Violence’ at the start of the week and its a total recommend! He has a way of positing crazy challenging concepts and illuminating them with solid examples of cultural/social/political phemonena that makes his work infinitely readable and understandable. He also gives no quarter to anyone; liberals, communists, anarchists, capitalists, politicians,Continue reading “Zizek rocks”
Violin Sculpture in Autumn

Booker White
Been following up a long standing interest in why acoustic guitars are so quiet when compared to other instruments of a similar body sized (the cello being the obvious example). Sculpted Violin
So we have really rad communal gardens in the new flat but a slightly oppressive socialist regime running the place (re: no games of any sort on the grassed areas etc..) its just crying out for this kind of things.. .more to follow im sure…
Kalbakken Gamelan
A brief snatch of Nick and I improvising a piece of our Kalbakken set from the Ruby Lounge gig with a Hawk and a Hacksaw at the end of June. Citylife said this about the performance: “Fellow Norwegian-Mancunian Kalbakken was more intense, reinterpreting traditional Norwegian folk songs with trancelike guitar playing and frantic sleigh bells, asContinue reading “Kalbakken Gamelan”
Malaga
Just dredged up this Kalbakken tour photo post gig in Malaga with the incredible Pamplonian hardcore band Antigua & Barbuda outside the Casa Invisible squatted social space. Shortly after this photo was taken they tried to hidnap Kirsty using banned substances as bait. The streets were covered in wax from the wild pointed hat and candles EasterContinue reading “Malaga”
