First release from my duo with long term collaborator Nick Dobson. Featuring 75 minutes of music drawn from a couple of days of sessions that took place on the edge of the snowy North Yorkshire moors in March of 2013 it captures the duo working with small sounds, textures and focused slow evolution of the improvisation.
Really looking forward to playing at the Penthouse this coming Thursday evening. Was in the space today figuring out how my newly developed stereo guitar set up will work in the corridor and was pretty excited to hear how the sound could be moved around the room physically and visually! Just put the finishing touches to this super small run of handmade books housing recordings I made in May of 2011 in Berlin with Richard Scott. 27 minutes of acoustic guitar music. The hard copies are enclosed in found hardback covers from Hotspur House and with an individual CCCP postcard as cover; all the lettering is pen and brush work by hand. In the winter of 2002/2003 I lived in Leeds. I made a load of super primitive multi tracked tapes by bouncing recordings between two ghetto blasters and playing along with them. Everything I could get my hands on went on there; guitar, bass, vacuum cleaner, old records on tape loops, old records scratched up with a knife and played back, radio static, pots pans…. I came across the tapes again in the summer when going through some old stuff and realised a few of the tracks had something going for them. I played guitar along with the original tapes to make what’s below.
